Description
Our forefathers, the great spiritualists could foresee these coming conditions and they devised ways and means so that in the present difficult circumstances, the great science of Yoga could still survive and prosper. They laid the foundations of Anand Yoga, a subtler form; rather an essence of Raja Yoga whereby the hardships and sufferings usually undergone by a Raja Yogi are eliminated. In Anand Yoga the physical practices are completely obliterated, a start is made by the quicker achievement of the concentration of mind. The process is so devised that without devoting much time in routine practices the goal is achieved with ease and comfort. The focus is on mental practice and the Saints of the time (Gurus) have taken greater part of the practice on their own self. The whole process is thus completely revolutionised and made easy. Here the guru with his spiritual power purifies rather cleanses the sanskars (संस्कार) of the aspirant (sadhak) and helps him in achieving the purification of heart in the shortest possible time. Once the heart is purified the achievement of the concentration of mind becomes very easy. Master helps the aspirant to get his subtler body to the Atma and to have a taste of his own self (Atmic Anand). Once the Atmic Anand is tasted by the aspirant, he runs after this everlasting Anand. All this is achieved in a very short time in the company of the Master or Guru. Here the Sadhak is made to compare the Atmic Anand to worldly pleasures and practically realise by himself the sweetness of Atmic Anand. This is the point where a Sadhak starts – makes a beginning of his practice. Such a Sadhak has a full idea (knowledge) of both the pleasures, external and internal. Sadhak finds the internal joy ever increasing with practice and is enriching him. With practice in due time internal transformation start showing its reflection in the aspirant personality, one experiences enhanced energy, focused and joyfulness even in mundane activities. Sadhak starts enjoying his surroundings like family, personal and professional life with more vigour and enthusiasm. Naturally, therefore, he draws more towards this internal practice. This method of meditation is advocated for Grihastis (married people) and is based on the practice advocated by Akhil Bhartiya Santmat Satsang.
In course of time he realises that Kama (काम) (lust, passion), Krodha (क्रोध) (anger), Lobha (लोभ) (greed or avarice), Moh (मोह) (attachment delusion) and Ahankar (अहंकार) (ego) are his greatest enemies. They cause the greatest hindrance to the continuity in the enjoyment of Atmic Anand. With continuous practice a time comes when they get sublimated and the aspirant becomes free from all these bondages and has complete control over them. Gradually his personality is completely submerged in the Supreme Being.
